Sixth grade students start out their journey in the Bible Black Belt class on Wednesday Nights. In this class they will earn colored belts as they complete each Bible learning level, until they ultimately earn their black belt. The first Wednesday of every month is Mentor Night where Senior High School students mentor Bible Black Belts students.
The two year confirmation program begins when students are starting their seventh grade school year, and ends with their confirmation at the end of eighth grade. We use the United Methodist Credo Confirmation Curriculum.
Confirmation classes meet on Wednesday nights. The first Wednesday of every month is Mentor Night. Seventh grade students have a parent mentor and eighth grade students can select an influential, Christ-centered adult to be their mentor.
There is a $75 registration fee each year to cover the cost of events, trips, etc.

In the Summer after their 6 through 8th grade year, Middle School students have the opportunity to participate in a Journey. This is a long weekend mission trip (4 days) where students dare to discover the One who is waiting for them on their Journey.
The weekend is mission focused work projects, small group time, worship, and fun evening activities. Registration starts at the beginning of the school year, and the deadline to register is the end the Christmas season. Individualized fundraising is offered throughout the year for all of CWUMC youth events.
On Sunday morning during the school year there is an education hour between services (9:35 am) called Youth Life. Each month, Youth Life participates in one mission project and helps teach Children’s Sunday School classes for one Sunday.
There are many summer camp options through the United Methodist Conference! All CWUMC Campers have special camp pricing when they register—$100 off any of the camp prices! Camping brochures become available in January. Form more info: http://www.campminnesota.org/ . The two camps that we encourage middle school students to attend are:
Hi, Friend! My name is Rachel Devereaux, and I have the absolute honor of serving Cross Winds UMC as their Director of Youth Ministries. I have been working with young people for almost 15 years. I am married to Jeff and we have 2 beautiful daughters, Madison (8) and Ashley (6). We also have a very silly miniature Schnauzer named Winston who is 9!
It is my hope that every youth who is a part of our ministry at Cross Winds will feel the love of the Lord, and fully know that they are beloved sons and daughters of Christ who are made in the image of God!
I look forward to being the hands and feet with you on your student’s journey! Hearts and warm hugs!
